Description :
  • Manage, maintain and supervise department laboratory.
  • Specify and manage the purchasing of equipment.
  • Install and configure computer, network, printing, and other hardware, including specialized equipment used for classes and research, scholarly, and creative activities by faculty and students.
  • Ensure the safety and reliability of laboratory systems and environment.
  • Research, select, and specify software to support instruction and research, scholarly and creative activities (RSCA).
  • Install and configure appropriate software.
  • Coordinate and manage student lab assistants, as appropriate.
  • Ensure the stability and currency of laboratory equipment through monitoring and routine maintenance, either directly or through other internal or external processes.
  • Ensure the stability and currency of appropriate software through monitoring, maintenance, updates, and timely renewal.
  • Ensure appropriate backup of relevant data and software systems.
  • Manage timely replacement and updates of laboratory hardware and software.
  • Install, configure, maintain, update, and monitor department web server system Including software such as Apache, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin.
  • Develop, test, install, configure, maintain and monitor specialized web software such as department homework submission system.
  • Provide support for Computer Science faculty instruction and research, scholarly, and creative activities.
  • Assist faculty in selection and specification of computers and software.
  • Assist faculty in configuring and installing hardware and software Support instructionally related systems, accounts, and data.
  • Manage timely replacement and updates of faculty computers and software.
  • Assist in developing appropriate software tools and systems.
  • Support student learning in the lab environment.
  • Provide support to other programs in the College of Science.
  • Assist faculty in selection and specification of computers and software.
  • Assist faculty in configuring and installing hardware and software Support instructionally related systems, accounts, and data.
  • Assist in developing appropriate software tools and systems.
  • Provide appropriate support for monitoring, maintenance, upgrade and maintenance of information technology and systems across the College.
  • Provide appropriate administrative and logistic support.
  • Assist staff in the Department and College with information technology hardware and software.
  • Maintain appropriate records of equipment and software.
  • Coordinate with other entities such as OIT, property management, Chancellor’s Office and other external entities.
  • Develop and maintain records of processes and procedures to ensure stability and continuity of systems.
  • Ensure hardware and software compatibility of laboratory and faculty equipment.
  • Coordinate network and other infrastructure compatibility.
  • Serve as technical and expertise resource to OIT and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
  • EXPERIENCE : Minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience in a desktop support, call center support, or other technology related customer service setting preferably within an academic setting. (For Foundation skill level, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications or related fields or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study may substitute the required experience.)
  • EDUCATION : A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications or related fields or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. (Additional directly related experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.)
